Why hasn't my scholarship shown up in my student account?

Learn why a scholarship sent to your school may not appear right away, and what to do if it's taking longer than expected.

If your scholarship provider has sent funds to your school but you don't see it reflected in your student account yet, this is usually due to one of two things:

1. Processing time on the university's side

Once a school receives scholarship funds, it typically takes up to 5 business days for the funds to be applied to the student's account. This can take longer during busy periods, such as the start of a term, when schools are processing a high volume of payments.

2. Eligibility requirements not met

Scholarship providers often attach eligibility requirements to their funds, such as:

  • Minimum enrolled credit hours

  • Participation in a specific sports program

  • A minimum GPA

If a student doesn't meet these requirements at the time the funds are received, the school may not post the payment to the account until the issue is resolved.

What to do if it's been longer than 5 business days?

If you've confirmed the funds were sent and it has been more than 5 business days since the school received them, we recommend reaching out to your school's bursar or student accounts office directly. They have visibility into your account and can tell you whether the delay is a processing backlog or an eligibility issue. Backpack does not have insight into the school's internal systems once funds are received, so the university will always have the most accurate and up to date information.
