When Backpack sends a scholarship payment to your institution, a remittance email is sent ahead of the funds arriving. Here is how to use that information to post the payment accurately — and what to do if something looks off.
Step 1: Find your remittance details
Open the notification email from [email protected] and click View Remittance Details. The page shows the full roster of students included in the payment (may include multiple students), with award amounts, student IDs, and provider information. You can also download a CSV from that page.

Step 2: Match the ACH deposit
Backpack batches multiple scholarships into a single ACH deposit when they are going to the same institution. Use the ACH description to match the deposit in your bank feed:
Single-student payment: the student ID appears in the ACH description.
Multi-student payment: the Payment ID from the remittance email appears in the ACH description. Use the remittance CSV to break it down to the student level.
Step 3: Post to student accounts
Use the remittance CSV to post each award to the correct student account. The CSV includes student name, student ID, award amount, and provider name.
What if the remittance details don't match our records?
If the student name, student ID, award amount, or provider information does not match what you have on file, contact us right away so we can investigate with the scholarship provider.
Common discrepancies and what to do:
Student ID or name does not match — Email us with the correct ID and the Payment ID from your notification email.
Award amount is different than expected — Contact us and the scholarship provider to confirm the correct amount.
Student is not enrolled or no longer active — Notify us so we can coordinate return of funds with the provider.
Funds not in your account yet?
Funds typically arrive within 1 to 3 business days of receiving the remittance notification. If it has been longer, email [email protected] with the Payment ID from your notification email.
